A weekend in Monroe!

Kaye Lani, Miss America 1988, and myself with the GEMA Plant Manager and United Way team!

How wonderful it is to be back in Monroe County! (even though I am missing both Kermit the Frog and Miss Michigan, Angela Corsi, on the MSU campus)... Along with my fellow Spartan and MSU Stars Alum, Angela... I too cheer Go Green! Go White!

I have had a busy, but very enjoyable few days back.

After a meeting with Miss Amber, the wonderful Dione, and Allen, I am looking forward to seeing the finished product of the Miss Monroe County website. They have done wonderful work. Thank you!

I spent most of today with Monroe County's very own Miss America, Kaye Lani Rafko-Wilson. After a meeting for the United Way Youth Campaign (which I am co-chairing along with Kaye) we hurried off to the new GEMA plant in Dundee, Michigan to make a few speeches and help kick off the company's United Way Campaign. (And being with Miss America sure has some perks... she talked them in to giving us both free hats and the most delicious cookies ever!)

Tomorrow will be another busy day as I begin with the Kids Kare ID program in Luna Pier... make my way over to the 4th Annual Cup of Hope event in downtown Monroe where I will be featuring as the special guest... and then off to the Eagles Memorial Dart Tournament benefitting Hospice of Monroe. Don't worry... I will be taking a break for dinner at my most favorite restaurant with my wonderful family!

On Sunday, I will be traveling to Maumee, Ohio to watch the Manhattan Dance Performers. This is a group of women, aging from 27-80, who have all been showcased as tap dancers on Broadway. I am hoping to get a few ideas!! And as I make my way back to East Lansing, I will sure be sad to leave Monroe County... but, I will be back again very soon!!
